NEMDA Breeders Code of Ethics
NEMDA
(National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association) was founded in 1998 by
a group of dedicated people who realized the need for a Club that would
provide accurate information, networking, events, registry, health databases
but most of all a strict Breeders Code of Ethics that would ensure the
health and welfare of the breed. There is a list of breeders (Breeders
Code Of Ethics) who have agreed to abide by the guidelines and regulations
for ethical breeding of this special dog. To apply for BCOE status, a
breeder must pass a rigorous review by the Breeding Committee, which includes
furnishing current health docs of breeding stock, list of all puppy buyers
and litter history, pedigrees, and a letter of intent. If accepted, each
breeder signs an agreement to maintain the highest ethical standards,
must submit an annual report of their breeding activities and must reapply
every five years. You can also visit NEMDAís Club website www.nemda.org
to view the Breeders Code of Ethics.
In addition, all NEMDA BCOE breeders are required to use the NEMDA Registry
which is now recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and the Federation
Cynologique Internationale (FCI) as the United States based foreign breed
club. This enables NEMDA registered dogs to be used in European and Canadian
breeding programs. All breeding Entlebuchers in North America should be
NEMDA or CKC registered.
